During my career as CEO of a multi-location, private orthodontic practice, I faced many challenges while growing our company. As we continued to grow, our challenges became more complex. The reality is that you tend to deal with obstacles as they arise because it can be difficult to predict where the next stumbling block will come from. While working as the head of patient experience for a large DSO, I also felt that our solutions were reactive rather than preventative. It's not easy to solve large-scale issues while you are in the middle of your day-to-day operations, with a team of employees and patients depending on you. You don't have the luxury of taking time off to brainstorm preventative solutions or consider what obstacles may lie ahead that could prevent your practice from growing.

After leaving the private practice and DSO world, I finally had the time and mental capacity to design a business model that could properly organize a dental practice, designed from the ground up with preventative solutions to all the issues I knew any practice will face as it grows. During this design process, I reflected on every major challenge that I faced as CEO and determined what best course of action I could have taken back then to produce the best results today. This reflective process led to the creation of Rising Tide Consulting.
